Un soir à l'ESB: Eloquence competition
Junior du Bois invited us to the 1st eloquence competition held on Wednesday, November 9! It was a daring after-work event for all the students, who tried their hand at public speaking on both free and imposed subjects!
A competition to motivate you to pitch
"La junior du bois" this year organizes the 1st edition of its eloquence contest. Topics will revolve around the place of wood in society. Whether you're a student, teacher or member of the administration, you're invited to come and take part or just watch on Wednesday November 8 at 6pm in the amphitheatre.
The competition will take place in two parts: The first part will be a pool phase in which participants will compete in a one-minute pitch on a free topic related to the theme "defending the unexpected" to get their feet wet.
Each participant who comes out on top in his or her pool will be admitted to the tournament phase, where he or she will have to give a 2-minute speech on the following topics: "How can France's forests cope with climate change?", "Will the wood industry be able to meet production needs?" and "Is wood the solution to decarbonization?
Venanzio Verrechia, ESB 88, Quality Manager at Junior du Bois, tells you all about it!
"The idea was to do a training course and it ended up as a competition. The idea was to enable students to improve their skills while having fun. Which is one of the aims of Junior du Bois, to learn while having fun. It's the first time this year, and the second will probably take place in 2024.
Currently, Mr. Gascar teaches a course in Human and Social Sciences, "public speaking", in 2nd and 3rd year. Today it's an excellent appetizer for first-year students, for example.
In future editions, we'll be opening up to more alumni and a wider public".
The jury included Hugo Marquet (ESB 86).
