Call for 2024 contributions

26 January 2024 Association
Published by Sophie GRINCOURT

Hello everyone,

In this month of January, I wish you all the best for 2024. I wish you a year full of success, a year in which you will be able to carry out the projects you undertake, and a year of solidarity and mutual aid.

I would also like to extend these good wishes to our association. Indeed, despite the efforts of our directors and various employees over the years, and despite the support of our current members, some of whom have been with us for many years, the results are in, and they're bad.

As we discussed at our Annual General Meeting on January 13, membership fees are falling, and in ten years we've lost half our revenue.

You be the judge:

At this rate, it's hard to be optimistic about the future of our association. We can try to justify certain years, of course: yes, there were the Covid years, yes, there is inflation, yes, social networks have brought a new dynamic to keeping in touch with alumni, yes, other alumni associations are facing the same problems... But the situation is not going to improve by making excuses.

The only question worth asking, and I think it's my role as president to ask it, is this: the AIESB has always been there for the alumni, are we going to let it disappear or are we going to be there for it and commit ourselves to saving it?

The AIESB's mission has always been, among other things, to maintain and develop a spirit of lasting friendship between former students, to create links of solidarity between them that are useful to all, and to help members of the Association. These are the foundations of our association, and if I wish to remind you of them today, it's because this solidarity and mutual aid must, today, materialize through your membership fees, which are the AIESB's primary resource.

Finally, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all our current members. Your trust and commitment are among the reasons why our directors work alongside you all year round, and we are always ready to listen to your suggestions. The AGM was a fine example of your participation and exchange. You'll find the Minutes here.

You will also find below payment details for those wishing to renew their membership (or join us for the first time). We need your help, and will keep you informed of developments as the year progresses.

You can also pay by bank transfer, direct debit (€5 discount), or check by contacting Silvi(contact@aiesb.org).

Thank you all, and all the directors join me in renewing our best wishes for 2024.

Sophie Grincourt

ESB 78 and President of AIESB
